The World of Kuzari
Inspired by the ancient land of the Khazars, Kuzari is a unique embridery project in Jerusalem's exotic Bukharan Quarter. This once-elegant Quater settled in the late 1800's by wealthy Jewish immigrants from Bukhara, Samarkand and Afghanistan, in central Asia, is now an extrordinary combination of ethnic groups. Out of this varied social fabric, Kuzari bring together three generations of women in a magnificent newly renovated turn of the century building. Here, stitch by stitch, these women are discovering their rich cultural heritage and bringing back to life vibrant colours, exotic patterns and familiar symbols of Sephardi Jewery.
